Duncan Chisholm double winner at Scots Trad Music Awards 2018

Composer, fiddle player and folk musician Duncan Chisholm was the biggest winner at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards this year, taking home two prizes.

Composer, fiddle player and folk musician Duncan Chisholm was the biggest winner at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards this year, taking home two prizes.

He received the Composer of the Year Award, sponsored by PRS for Music, while his latest LP, Sandwood, won Album of the Year.

Elsewhere, the Live Act of the Year Award went to Elepahant sessions and the Up and Coming Artist accolade was won by Assynt, while Gaelic group Daimh took home the Scottish Folk Band of the Year Award.

The Belhaven Bursary for Innovation in Scottish Music, presented in association with Showcase Scotland Expo, went to Talisk.

Produced by Hands Up for Trad, the ceremony took place in Perth and was broadcast live on BBC ALBA and BBC Radio Scotland.

Hands Up for Trad’s creative director Simon Thoumire said: ‘What another great year of Scottish trad music! There is so much vitality in the scene right now and it is only getting stronger. Roll on 2019.’
