Downtown Music Publishing has acquired UK music publisher Eagle-I Music as part of an expansion plan.
According to news reports, Downtown has made the acquisition and named Roberto Neri, Eagle-i’s co-founder and managing director, as managing director of its new UK arm.
Roberto helped launch Eagle-i Music back in 2011 following stints at Bug Music UK and PRS for Music. Since its inception, Eagle-I Music has managed rights to a diverse range of artists including Deep Purple, Ghetts and Dutch Uncles.
Roberto said: ‘I am excited to now be part of Downtown, their balance of creativity and technology has brought them to the forefront of the industry. I would like to thank Beringea, Simon Hosken, Terry Shand and Geoff Kempin and wish them well in the future.’
Alongside Eagle-i’s publishing assets, Downtown is also taking on the company’s neighbouring rights and production library businesses. This will be integrated across its global operations.
Downtown Music Publishing runs offices in New York, Amsterdam, London, Los Angeles and Nashville. Its catalogue includes works by John Lennon, film composer Hans Zimmer and One Direction.
