Artist turned sonic performer Dinos Chapman, Kogumaza and Shangaan Electro are among the artists performing at the Bring to Light weekend in Birmingham in October.

The event is organised by avant garde promoters Capsule and will form part of the Library of Birmingham opening season.

Dinos Chapman is a renowned artist now musical auteur. He will perform a live AV show featuring electronic music from his Luftbobler debut album alongside a series of short films.

He said: ‘People are going to make comparisons with the art. Everyone’s going to expect thrash metal or some ear-bending dissonance from one of the Chapman brothers, but that’s too easy. That’s what I imagine artists would make. For me, it was always important to make music.’

The rest of the bill features a varied and eclectic mixture of musical talent from across the UK and beyond.

South African dance act Shangaan Electro will be performing as well as offering dance workshops. Other artists include Deafheaven, singer songwriter Josephine Foster and Nottingham experimentalists Kogumaza.

Friday’s programme will see performances in the industrial space of the Rainbow Warehouse in Digbeth.

The rest of the weekend will see new music performed in the Library of Birmingham.
