A year and a half after his death, the late, great David Bowie has reached a major posthumous milestone, with streams of his music on Spotify officially hitting the one billion mark.
As reported on the David Bowie official Facebook page, the music legend reached the milestone last Thursday (24 August), with his 1977 classic single Heroes leading the way as his most streamed song on the platform. The song will be released as a special limited edition picture disc next month to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The musical innovator spoke about the future of music in 2002, predicting a big change in how we consume it.
He said: 'The absolute transformation of everything that we ever thought about music will take place within 10 years, and nothing is going to be able to stop it. Music itself is going to become like running water or electricity'.
