Cooking Vinyl, the London-based independent music company, has announced plans to expand its US operations by opening a full service label.
Based in New York, Cooking Vinyl America will be overseen by newly appointed president Howie Gabriel.
Howie previously worked as executive vice-president of marketing at Warner Bros. In his new post, he will report directly to Cooking Vinyl group founder and CEO Martin Goldschmidt and be tasked with developing domestic and international acts as well as releasing artists from Cooking Vinyl’s UK roster.
Commenting, Martin Goldschmidt said: ‘The key challenge whenever our company expands into new territories, particularly a territory as important as the US, is finding the right person to oversee things.
‘In Howie we have someone who has tremendous energy aligned with a proven track record of success in marketing and distribution, an understanding of both the US and the international markets and above all a passion for music.’
Initial releases include Billy Bragg, Dolores O’Riordan and Teddy Thompson, while the Cooking Vinyl roster includes global acts such as Marilyn Manson and The Prodigy.
