British band Clean Bandit’s number one single Rather Be has become the most played track ever on Spotify UK in a single week.
The release, which is currently top of the UK’s official singles chart, achieved 1.09m streams during the last seven days.
Only Rather Be and Daft Punk’s Get Lucky have surpassed the one million stream mark with the former beating the French duo’s Spotify record this week.
The track has now been played over 2.99m times on the music streaming and subscription service.
Mark Williamson, director of artist services at Spotify, said: ‘It’s great to see another track doing over a million streams a week in the UK on Spotify - the first track to do so since Daft Punk’s Get Lucky tore onto the scene last year.
‘But it’s also fantastic that Clean Bandit went on to smash Daft Punk’s record with an even bigger week of streams, and to now be sitting at number one on both the Spotify chart and on the official sales chart.'
Clean Bandit’s single sold 163,000 copies during its first week of release, making it the fastest selling single to be released in January since Babylon Zoo’s Spaceman back in 1996.
