BBC Radio 1Xtra celebrates its 15 year anniversary tomorrow (16 August) with a special day of programming including guest appearances from Professor Green, Chip and Tinchy Stryder.
Throughout the day, the station's DJs will relive their favourite moments from the archive, featuring the best in black and urban music since its launch in 2002.
DJ Target (sitting in for MistaJam between 7 to 10pm) will be joined by Professor Green, Chip and other friends of the station for a series of interviews across the week.
Tinchy Stryder will perform in the 1Xtra Live Lounge for Ace's show on 17 August.
Since its launch in 2002, BBC Radio 1Xtra – which now boasts 1.08 million weekly listeners – has played a significant role in championing black and urban music, helping to bring it into the mainstream.
Artists such as Lethal Bizzle, Tinie Tempah, Stormzy, Tinchy Stryder and Wretch 32 have received support from the station and gone on to achieve major success.
The station also welcomes up to 1,000 young people into its HQ every year as part of its outreach activity, which includes visits to schools, colleges and community centres.
Speaking of the station's influence, Dizzee Rascal said: '1Xtra has been instrumental in introducing some of the most important artists of the last decade.'
