Legendary singer songwriters Chas and Dave will be marking their 50th anniversary together with the release of new album That’s What Happens.

The record, which will be the duo’s first album of original material in 27 years, will be released on 28 October.

According to the pair, the album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios at the end of June this year and features a wide range of guests including Jools Holland, Hugh Laurie and Buddy Holly and The Crickets’ drummer J. I Allison.

The collection features early R&B, skiffle and rock n’ roll classics alongside new takes on songs of their own.

The pair said:This is one of the most enjoyable albums we've ever done. It was a great week in Abbey Road with top class musicians and producer Joe Henry at the helm.

‘An unregimented atmosphere where the 'room' worked well alongside the microphone resulting in an album that ran so smooth and joyful that we've almost forgotten we did it. But we've got proof! It will be available for you all to enjoy really soon.’

Chas Hodges and guitarist Dave Peacock have been writing songs together since the late sixties and went on to sell 3m copies of 14 albums with six top 20 hits.

That’s What Happens is part of a new deal with Warner Music Entertainment.
