Charli XCX has been named as the recipient of this year’s BRITs Songwriter of the Year award.
The Brat artist is already up for five awards — Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Dance Act and Pop Act — at this weekend's ceremony, which will take place at The O2 in London on Saturday (1 March).
Charli has today (26 February) been awarded the coveted Songwriter of the Year prize, which was awarded to RAYE last year. The award, which is decided by a select panel of expert judges, recognises exceptional songwriting talent.
Damian Christian, Managing Director and President of Promotions at Atlantic Records (part of Warner Music UK) and Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025, said in a statement: 'Charli has had an undeniable year, taking her experimental brand of electronic and pop from underground raves to the heart of mainstream culture.
'Charli's songwriting is distinctive, bold and relentlessly innovative, and, having been one of the UK's leading songwriters for a number of years now, has taken her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon Brat. I'm delighted she has been recognised for this much deserved award.'
News of Charli's Songwriter of the Year award follows on from her longtime collaborator A. G. Cook picking up the BRITs' Producer of the Year award this week.
The duo's wins 'reflect their combined impact on music over the past 12 months', a BRITs press release added about the recognition.
