Indie rock survivors the Charlatans have hit the top ten with their new album, Modern Nature.

The album is the band’s first since the untimely death of their drummer Jon Brookes in August 2013, a founding member of the group.

The outfit, who feature Tim Burgess on vocals, guitarist Mark Collins, bassist Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers on keyboards, have had their fair share of tragedy following the death of original keyboardist Rob Collins who died in a car accident in 1996.

Frontman Tim tweeted the good news about their top ten charting release: ‘Modern Nature is number seven in the Official Charts UK album chart - Thanks. We love you x x x.’

The LP was also number one in the chart of albums purchased in record shops.

The Charlatans are out on tour throughout February and March. Check out our past interview with frontman Tim Burgess about his solo career. Also find out the full story on how the band wrote their anthemic hit One to Another in the wake of the death of Rob Collins.
