DJ, producer and songwriter Calvin Harris has extended his global publishing deal with Sony/ATV.

According to the publisher, the extension will mean the deal has been in place over a decade and pre-empts the release of Calvin’s fourth studio album Motion.

The songwriter has enjoyed an astonishing run of success, having written ten number ones for both himself and other artists including the likes of Summer, Blame (with John Newman) and We Found Love for Rihanna.

In the process he’s clocked up 40m singles worldwide, been named as the highest-earning DJ in the world by Forbes for the second successive year and won an Ivor Novello Award in 2013 as songwriter of the year.

Martin Bandier, Sony/ATV chairman and CEO, said: ‘We are thrilled to be extending our long-running relationship with Calvin Harris who stands as a true musical phenomenon of our age. He is an international chart-topping recording artist, a hugely talented songwriter with a gift for coming up with global hit after global hit, often by himself, and he remains one of the world’s most successful DJs If he could also learn to strike the ball like Lionel Messi I’d want to come back as him in my next life.’

Calvin said: ‘Guy Moot and his team have given me great support and opportunities over many years, and I’m excited to extend my deal and continue our success together.’

Motion will be released on 3 November (4 November in the US) and will follow I Created Disco (2007), Ready For The Weekend (2009) and 18 Months (2012).
