Jamie Cullum has called upon young artists to respond to an original musical passage as part of a one-off performance for the London Jazz Festival.
The project came out of a network established by London’s Roundhouse to promote the talents of young artists and to encourage collaborations around the world.
Over the coming months, UK musicians will travel to Ukraine, South Africa and Nigeria to work with their contemporaries and create interpretations of Jamie Cullum’s motif.
These musicians will then be invited back to London for a performance on Sunday 15 November at the Roundhouse as part of the London Jazz Festival.
Jamie said: ‘It’ll be a pleasure and privilege to share the Roundhouse stage with so many talented young artists from around the world.
‘It’s so important to give young artists the platform to profile their talent as I know they’ll bring their new ideas and energy to create an incredible performance. I cannot wait to hear where the artists have taken the motif I wrote especially for this collaboration.’
Call to Create is a global network of over 100 arts organisations who work to provide a platform to showcase the work of young creatives.
Tickets are available now from efglondonjazzfestival.org.uk/onmass.
