Sheffield electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire have announced their first live gig in more than 20 years.
The show will take place as part of the Berlin Atonal festival running from 20-24 August.
According to the festival’s website, ‘with a line up now consisting solely of machines, multi-screen projections and Richard H Kirk, the first Cabaret Voltaire performance of the 21st century - featuring exclusively new material and no nostalgia - promises to be formidable.’
Cabaret Voltaire formed in Sheffield during the early seventies and signed to Rough Trade, becoming one of the most influential proto-punk bands with their mix of electronica, dub, house and experimentalism.
Richard formed the band with Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson but they split during the nineties after the release of their 11th album, International Language.
Other acts appearing at the German festival include experimental artists Tim Hecker and Biosphere.
