Bucks Music Group has signed the composer and virtuoso Sarod player to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal.

Bucks Music Group has signed the composer and virtuoso Sarod player to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal.

In addition to his work a composer and player of the 19-stringed, classical Indian instrument, Datta is a TV presenter.

He has collaborated with a wide-range of notable artists including Beyonce, Jay-Z, Bill Bailey, Nitin Sawney, Talvin Singh, Akram Khan and the London Philharmonic orchestra.

On 15 November, Datta will release his new EP Jangal, which blends the worlds of Indian classical and contemporary music and responds to current levels of global deforestation and the climate change crisis.

The recording features guest artists like Austrian percussionist Manu Delago on hang; London-based Al MacSween on piano, Moog, synths and harmonium; rhythymic visionary Bernhard Schimpelsberger on percussion and Ayoze de Alejandro Lopez on the Latin American bombo.

The Indian percussionist Pirashanna Thevarajah on the ghatam and morsing also features and the EP was mixed and produced by Jonathan Rogers and mastered by Streaky.

Datta’s 2019 highlights include performances at Glastonbury Festival, Womad and the BBC Proms.
