Internet service provider BT is to collaborate with Universal on launching a new music streaming service.

According to reports, music fans will be able to stream music via their BT TV service.

Up to 150 albums will be available including albums from the likes of Florence + the Machine and Lady Gaga although the Guardian reports BT is looking to increase this to 1,000 through further licensing deals.

Unlimited package TV customers package will be able to access the service for free. Other BT customers will be able to use the platform by paying £3 a month.

Streaming continues to be subject of some debate, with Billy Bragg being the latest pop star to weigh on the discussion.

He criticised those artists attacking Spotify, saying they should call on the record labels to increase their royalty rates instead.
