Doyle, who recently composed the music to Disney Pixar’s film Brave, has provided the National Schools Symphony Orchestra (NSSO) with an entirely new piece of music created especially for children.
His composition, Impressions of America: a Suite for Orchestra will be performed by NSSO at next month’s nationally renowned Three Choirs Plus festival, which takes place at Hereford’s Shirehall on 22 July.
Doyle, patron of the NSSO, said: ‘NSSO provides a place where young musicians from all backgrounds can be encouraged and challenged to develop their abilities, and they do a fantastic job preparing the next generation of musicians for the step up to National Youth Orchestra or into the world of professional music.
‘While it’s incredible to be involved in scoring major Hollywood productions, such as Brave, I also take great pleasure in creating music that will be performed by the next generation of musicians. NSSO’s role in helping young musicians to learn their craft cannot be overstated and I am delighted to be involved.’
Rebecca Woodward, NSSO representative, added: ‘It is fantastic that Patrick has taken the time out of his busy schedule, to put together a piece of music exclusively for NSSO to perform at the Three Choirs Plus festival.
‘It is a testament to Patrick that he is willing to contribute to charities such as ours, and the children involved in NSSO are extremely excited at having the opportunity to perform his piece at next month’s festival.’
