BRIT award 2014 winners double sales

Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure, Rudimental and Bastille saw their sales double after the BRIT Awards 2014, new statistics have revealed.

Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure, Rudimental and Bastille saw their sales double after the BRIT Awards 2014, new statistics have revealed.

Official Charts Company (OCC) data charted sales immediately after the event on 19 February up until midnight. In that time, Bastille’s Bad Blood album saw a sales spike of 132 percent following their performance with Rudimental and win for British breakthrough act.

Rudimental saw their debut album Home receive a 130 percent sales surge. Arctic Monkeys received a 115 percent sales increase after winning British album of the year for fifth long player AM.

Martin Talbot, OCC managing director, said: ‘The BRITs is one of the biggest music talking points of the year - and is again proving its power in influencing sales too.

‘It is great that so many excellent new British acts are seeing the benefit this year. Double congratulations to Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure and Basti-mental!’

Elsewhere in the singles charts, Critics’ Choice winner Sam Smith saw his ballad Lay Me Down receive a 471 percent sales spike.
