Brian Eno, experimental producer and one-time member of Roxy Music, will deliver the John Peel Lecture at the BBC Radio 6 Music and the Radio Festival 2015.
Taking place on 27 September at the British Library, the musician will use his speech to explore the ‘ecology of culture’.
According to the BBC, Brian will endeavour to show how individuals and institutions including broadcaster, DJs, managers and music fans form a single cultural organism.
Brian Eno said: ‘I'm honoured to be invited to do a talk in the name of John Peel, a man who had a profound effect on my musical life and indeed my becoming a musician at all.
‘His career as a non-musician who altered the course of music has been an inspiration to me and forms the basis of this talk.’
The annual BBC Music John Peel Lecture invites a notable figure from the music industry to shape a debate and create insight around music and music-related media.
Previous speakers have included Pete Townsend, Iggy Pop, Billy Bragg and Charlotte Church.
