The BPI, the UK record labels’ association, has appointed four new major and independent record label representatives to its council.

From seven candidates standing, Katy Ellis of Anglo Management and Stephen King of Believe Digital were elected designated independent label representatives.

Universal Music UK’s Adam Barker and James Radice of Warner Music UK were both re-elected as designated major label representatives.

The four places had become free due to rotation and the retirement of John Craig OBE, who has stepped down after 28 years’ service.

They were all voted in at the BPI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 7 September.

Geoff Taylor, chief executive BPI and BRIT Awards, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Katy and Stephen onto Council, where they will help to represent the wide range of the hundreds of independent members we represent.

‘They will bring it fresh perspectives and ideas on how we can make the most of the new opportunities arising from the growth in music consumption driven by streaming. We look forward to the excellent contributions I know they will make.’
