The BPI and Official Charts Company are partnering to host an online conversation called Let’s Talk About Music on Wednesday 6 May.
The Official Charts chief executive, Martin Talbot, will be joined by music writer Pete Paphides who will be discussing his new memoir Broken Greek, which was published to widespread acclaim last month.
Pete Paphides has been published in Time Out, the Guardian, Mojo, Q, Observer Music Monthly and The Times, where he spent five years as Chief Rock Critic.
Let’s Talk About Music will run from 5pm to 6pm, and kick-off with a short reading from Paphides, who will then discuss his formative years growing up in Birmingham, the son of Cypriot parents, with the greatest hits of the seventies and eighties as his personal soundtrack. Following the reading and Q&A, the floor will be thrown open to the audience for questions.
The BPI has already adapted to host online seminars exploring the business side of the music industry, however this new event has been borne out of a desire to lift the music community’s spirits during these difficult times.
Let’s Talk About Music is free to attend but registration is required.
Anyone wishing to order a copy of the book in advance is encouraged to do so via Blackwells, or Waterstones.
