BMG Chrysalis UK has announced the acquisition of indie label Infectious Music, bringing the likes of alt-J and Temper Trap to its roster.

This latest acquisition follows recent deals with the likes of Sanctuary Records, Mute Records and Skint/Loaded Records.

Alongside alt-J and Temper Trap, These New Puritans, Drenge and Superfood will also be joining the BMG artist roster.

Infectious chairman and founder Korda Marshall and his team will report to BMG Chrysalis UK Executive vice president Alexi Cory-Smith.

Alexi said: ‘Infectious has proven itself to be one of the UK's most successful and artist-friendly independent labels with an outstanding roster. I look forward to working with Korda and the Infectious team to deliver an exceptional service for artists.’

Korda added: ‘BMG's fresh approach to the music business and its understanding of the structural changes faced by the industry make it the obvious choice to partner with. After 33 years in music, my ambition for this business is undiminished and all of us at Infectious are looking forward to working with the BMG team.’

Infectious Music was first founded in 1993 and built its name with a roster of hugely successful alternative artists such as Ash, Garbage, Pop Will Eat Itself.

alt-J’s debut album An Awesome Wave was released in May 2012 and went on to win both the Mercury Music Prize and an Ivor Novello Award.

Their forthcoming follow-up This Is All Yours is due for release on 22 September.
