Music Ally is hosting Blockchain: music without the middlemen, a seminar exploring how the music industry can make the most of this new technology.

The event, which takes place on 12 May in London, will welcome industry expert Dr Jeremy Silver to unveil his new study, Blockchain or the chaingang.

He will be joined by the Simon Edhouse, Bittunes managing director, Benji Rogers, PledgeMusic founder and chief strategy officer and Mark Douglas from PPL among other speakers.

According to organisers, ‘there’s been plenty of hype of late about the potential of blockchain technologies for music, allowing greater transparency and efficiencies in licensing and commercial transactions and helping to commercialise the long tail’.

‘This event will cut through the hype and look at the practical steps the music industry needs to take for potential to become a reality we can all, realistically, embrace.’

Attendees will receive a free post event report compiled by Music Ally assessing the viability and next steps for the industry to reach a necessary consensus as well as a free email copy of Blockchain or the chaingang? report post event.
