Björk Digital, a new virtual reality exhibition of the Icelandic artist’s digital and video works, is to debut at London’s Somerset House.
Taking place 1 September to 23 October, the exhibition will feature many of the artist’s collaborations with some of the world's finest visual artists and programmers and coincide with a special live performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
Björk Digital features a number of VR experiences based on tracks from her recent Vulnicura album, including Black Lake, an mmersive film commissioned by the New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Stonemilker. Both pieces were made in collaboration with filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang.
Somerset House’s edition of the Björk Digital exhibition will include never-before-seen work, plus an interactive educational space showcasing the innovative apps and custom-made musical instruments from Biophilia, an app created by Björk exploring music, nature and technology.
Iconic Björk videos by Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, Nick Knight and Stephane Sedanaoui will also feature.
Björk will also perform a one-off show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on September 21 to coincide with the exhibition. It’s her only UK show in 2016 and the first in the city since her Biophilia show at Alexandra Palace in 2013.
