Billy Bragg and Moby are among the music industry commentators appearing in a new BBC Radio 4 documentary on streaming.
Jeremy Silver, author of Digital Medieval: the last twenty years of the music industry, and the next twenty and chairman of Musicmetric will appear alongside the musicians.
Fred Bolsa, director of Innovation and Strategy at Sony Music in London, and Mark Williamson, director of Artist Services at Spotify, will also feature in the programme.
According to the BBC’s website, presenter Peter Day will speak to various music industry figures to assess how streaming and subscription services have impacted the business.
The programme is broadcast tonight (Thursday 2 January) at 20.30 on Radio 4, then repeated on Sunday (6 January) at 21.30.
Streaming services were the subject of much debate in 2013 after Radiohead and Atoms for Peace frontman Thom Yorke described them as being ‘bad for new music’.
