The Big Music Project has announced a second year of funding for music companies looking to offer internships to young people.

The initiative, which is a collaboration between Capital, BPI and charity UK Youth, aims to support up to 50 percent of the total wage costs of an internship lasting between three and six months.

Over the past year, the Big Music Project has funded 24 internships with more young people currently being recruited for further work experience opportunities.

Geoff Taylor, BPI and BRIT Awards chief executive, said: ‘The Big Music Project is providing significant funding to support internships in music organisations.

‘It's exciting to see a new generation of talent come through the ranks, receiving training, mentoring, and a real-life work experience as a result of this.’

The programme is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and Global's Make Some Noise and aims to help 14-24 year olds build confidence and develop transferable skills to increase their prospects of finding music industry work.

Interested companies can download the guidance notes and application form from the Big Music Project website.

The deadline for applications is 26 June 2015.
