On the Beat, a record shop in London’s Soho selling classic vinyl, has been put up for sale for £300,000.
Owner Tim Derbyshire set up the store in 1979 but, after 35 years in charge of the business, has decided its now time to step down and let another ‘passionate music lover’ take over.
The record shop, which has been listed with a ‘buy it now’ price of £300,000, has a huge stock of records which encompasses every genre other than classical music.
Tim said in the listing: ‘If you’re at the stage in your life when you don’t have to worry about making money but can live the bohemian life, meet interesting people every day and the occasional pop or rock star, here’s your chance to take over the oldest record shop in the centre of swinging London.’
‘A vinyl treasure trove with a pulsing, groovin’ history steeped in its very walls. You can make history and take it over!’
Bidding for the record shop will end on 25 November.
