Bear’s Den are the latest winners of the Momentum Deezer Award and will receive an extra £2,500 on top of their original Momentum grant.

PRS for Music Foundation and music streaming service Deezer, Momentum Music Fund’s digital music partner, announced the winners of the award as well as eight more recipients of backing in the initiative’s latest funding round.

Brownwood’s Anushka, synth pop act Women’s Hour and anthemic guitar rockers Boy Jumps Ship will all receive funding of between £5k and £15k for recording, touring and promotion.

Andrew Davie from Bear’s Den said: ‘The Momentum Music Fund has made an amazing difference for us as a band and we’re honoured to be receiving the Momentum Deezer Award.

‘We’d like to thank our fans for all their support in our journey so far. You’re all legends and can’t wait to share some new music with you soon.’

Now, just over a year on since its launch in May 2013, Momentum has supported 34 artists and bands including East India Youth, Ghostpoet and Jaws.

All artists who receive Momentum funding have the opportunity of winning the £2,500 Momentum Deezer Award alongside their grant. The award encourages fans and subscribers to help their favourite acts gain streams through the Momentum Deezer app, with those getting the highest number of plays receiving the extra funding.
