The BBC’s annual celebration of music and its power to change lives is set to return this September with ambassadors including Kylie Minogue and PRS for Music members Blossoms and YolanDa Brown.

BBC Music Day takes place on 28 September with a raft of programming and live events taking place around the UK.

Kylie has recorded a series of music-related messages to be broadcast for the event, while jazz ace Brown will perform alongside 1,500 children in Portsmouth.

Stockport indie outfit Blossoms have also pledged their support for the second year in a row, with a special performance planned for the 2018 edition.

Other ambassadors confirmed include celebrity choirmaster Gareth Malone and pop singer-songwriter Gabrielle.

Also included in the programme is Get Singing, a national initiative to encourage primary school children to sing in classrooms, playgrounds and assemblies, highlighting its benefits to health and wellbeing.

BBC Music Day is working with partners Young Voices, Sing Up, Ex Cathedra’s Singing Playgrounds and BBC Ten Pieces to unite schools across the nations.
