The BBC has also announced that it will celebrate the wealth of the UK’s living composers this year with commissions for Julian Anderson, Diana Burrell, Anna Clyne, Edward Cowie, Tansy Davies, David Matthews, John McCabe and John Woolwich.

There will also be three BBC commissions by Nishat Khan and Indian-born British-based composers Naresh Sohal and Param Vir, throwing some light on India’s vibrant musical heritage.

Legendary songwriter Bryan Ferry will headline BBC Proms in the Park in Hyde Park, the annual Last Night of the Proms spectacular. Now in its 18th year, it is Britain’s largest outdoor classical music event.
