BASCA is working with the BBC Singers to offer composers the chance to write a score for a workshop and concert inspired by the Italian madrigal tradition.
On Tuesday 4 October the Singers will give a workshop led by Judith Weir at BBC’s Madia Vale Studios. On Friday 7 October they will give a concert conducted by James Morgan at St Giles’ Cripplegate featuring works selected from submissions by BASCA members alongside other works from featured European countries.
BASCA Standard and Professional members are invited to submit works inspired in some way by madrigals either for the workshop or for the concert.
BBC Singers Workshop
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience hearing your work rehearsed by one of the world’s leading choirs and receive feedback from the Master of the Queen’s Music.
Works must be no longer than five minutes, unpublished and the composer must be able to attend a workshop in London on 4 October.
BBC Singers Concert
This will be a high profile concert, open to the public and recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3.Works must be no longer than 10 minutes, have been written within the last 20 years, been previously performed and can be submitted via either a composer or publisher.
