PPL Momentum supported Dana Gavinski said: ‘This fund is a huge help, especially during these very uncertain times, helping me focus on making a beautiful album with people that inspire me.’
Ben Wynter, grants and programmes manager (Industry Funds), PRS Foundation, said: ‘Congratulations to all 12 artists receiving the latest round of PPL Momentum support. We recognise the importance of being able to continue to support talent at critical tipping points, enabling them to navigate their way into what could be a new look music industry and ensuring that new music is still able to cut through despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Helping get talent back to work and ensuring that they do not lose the momentum that they have worked so hard to achieve up to this point in their careers is so important and this fund as well as the PRS Foundation's other funding opportunities are playing a vital role in sector recovery and underscoring how crucial it is to support creation, resilience and long term development.’
Sarah Mitchell, director of membership & communications, PPL, said: ‘PRS Foundation and the PPL Momentum Fund have continued to support UK artists throughout Covid-19, and it is a pleasure to announce another raft of funding for twelve more talented acts. Hundreds of creators have had their careers supported by this fund – indeed, four of this year’s Mercury Prize nominees are past recipients – and so we are excited to see what, with the help of our grants, these twelve artists can achieve. We wish them all the best.’
Ciaran Scullion, head of music, Arts Council of Northern Ireland added: ‘The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is proud to partner with PRS Foundation on PPL Momentum Music Fund, a vital initiative which enables our artists to take that all important next step in the development of their professional music careers. We are committed to providing valuable, meaningful opportunities for our artists to develop and this funding programme offers artists not only the opportunity to connect with the UK-wide industry, but also to showcase the tremendous talent that is inherent to Northern Ireland on an international stage. Congratulations to all the artists taking part in this round and to Northern Ireland’s, Robracobra Quartet, who will benefit greatly from this opportunity to record and tour.’
The next deadline for applications to the PPL Momentum Music Fund is 24 August 2020 via the PRS Foundation website.
