Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys have released a surprise single Do I Wanna Know? ahead of their headline gig at Glastonbury.

Following a year of surprise releases and teaser marketing campaigns (see David Bowie and Daft Punk), the band released the single to iTunes this morning (19 June) with no fanfare.

It is thought that the release of the song will pre-empt the emergence of a fifth album at some stage later this year.

The five piece will top the bill of Glastonbury's Friday (28 June) which will also see The Rolling Stones and Mumford and Sons headlining the other nights.

The Arctic Monkeys previous albums include Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not and most recent full length record Suck it and See.
