Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys have confirmed details of an arena tour to follow the release of their forthcoming AM album.

The band will release their fifth full length record on 9 September through Domino Records and then embark on a tour of the UK’s arenas in October and November.

Alex Turner and his group will kick off the live jaunt in Newcastle on 22 October before completing their run of gigs in their hometown of Sheffield on 2 November.

The dates follow a week of activity for the band after unexpectedly releasing their new single Do I Wanna Know last week. The song reached number eleven in the charts and pre-empts their headline appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival tomorrow night (28 June).

AM follows 2011’s Suck it and See and features collaborations with the likes of Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, Bill Ryder Jones from the Coral and Manchester post-punk poet John Cooper Clarke.

25 October  London Earls Court
