The Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast is launching the fifth year of its Scratch My Progress talent development programme.
The scheme, which has supported 17 emerging acts since 2011, will offer acts the chance to showcase and promote their talent, develop their performance and writing skills and gain an in-depth understanding of the music business.
Applications are being accepted from now until to 29 April.
Successful Scratch applicants will spend the rest of the year in meetings and workshops with music industry professionals, including lawyers and accountants, vocal coaches, PR experts and more.
The team will be encouraged to share ideas in interactive songwriter sessions and receive mentoring in everything from finances and marketing to interview skills and stage management. They will write and record a track professionally for a showcase EP and organise a showcase event at the end of the programme.
Charlotte Dryden, Oh Yeah creative development director, said: ‘We are entering the fifth year of this programme and we are so proud of the artists we have supported thus far. It’s also testament to the strength of ‘Scratch’ that five years down the line we are confident and excited about the potential of future acts that apply to the programme.
‘We’re looking forward to mentoring the new participants and will be celebrating our fifth term with one or two developments later in the year.’
Previous Scratch My Progress success stories include Hot Cops, R51 and Katharine Philippa.
Application and guidelines can be requested from Matt at events@ohyeahbelfast.com.
