MOBO UnSung 2016 is now open for entries to showcase the next generation of urban music songwriters, rappers and producers.

Rising stars and past MOBO Award nominees Lady Leshurr and Ghetts are ambassadors for the 2016 edition. Year-round career guidance, vital contact introductions, studio time with renowned producers and touring opportunities are all up for grabs for the winning artist.

MOBO UnSung 2016’s judging panel includes a number of industry experts - they are artist managers John Woolf (Wiley, Disciples), Kwame Kwaten (Laura Mvula), Tileyard Music hit songwriter for Beyoncé Carla Marie-Williams, star producer/songwriter Fraser T Smith (Adele, Kano, Craig David), BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Sian Anderson and 2016 artist ambassadors Lady Leshurr and Ghetts.

The top 10 finalists including the MOBO UnSung 2016 winner will embark on a MOBO UnSung tour of UK cities.

Lady Leshurr, the Queen’s Speech artist and Birmingham MC, said: ‘I’m so excited that MOBO have asked me to be an ambassador for this year’s MOBO UnSung competition! The UnSung initiative is a must for any new artist looking for a break. I can’t wait to hear what the artists come with this year!’

Latest MOBO UnSung Winners MiC Lowry said: ‘Winning the MOBO UnSung competition was so dope! The platform was instrumental for us to get our early stuff out there. There is so much undiscovered talent in the UK and we’d encourage any new talent to enter MOBO UnSung and get their music heard … .who knows hopefully an act from Liverpool can win it again.’

Budding UK artists who want to take their music careers to the next level are invited to enter MOBO UnSung by submitting their music at mobo.com/unsung.

The closing deadline is Monday 8 August.
