Apple has signed a music licensing deal with Warner Music for its new music streaming service, news reports have claimed.

According to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, the tech giant inked a deal with the record company over publishing and recorded music rights. As part of the deal, Apple will provide Warner with ten percent of the ad revenue.

The iPhone manufacturer is also believed to have signed a similar deal with the Universal Music Group but only for recorded music rights.

Apple is rumoured to have been working on the launch of the new streaming service for some time although it has been delayed by negotiations with record labels.

The firm is reported to still be in negotiations with Sony and Sony/ATV on striking a deal surrounding music rights.

Apple’s new service could be launched at its annual developers’ conference which takes place in San Francisco on 10 June.
