Annie Lennox, solo artist, Eurthymics frontwoman and charity campaigner, has received the 22nd Music Industry Trusts Award (MITS).
The acclaimed singer songwriter was presented with the prize by previous winner Peter Gabriel at a charity event for Nordoff Robbins and the BRIT Performing Arts & Technology School .
Annie Lennox provided a six song live performance featuring 1000 Beautiful Things, There must be an Angel, Little Bird, No More I Love You’s, Here Comes The Rain and Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves.
Annie attended the event with her family and said: ‘I’m very touched and honoured to receive this award.
‘Music has given me a lifetime of experiences and opportunities that I would never have dreamed possible, and I feel very privileged to have been able to become an artist and communicator, especially as a woman.’
Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Kylie Minogue OBE, Sir Harvey Goldsmith and Jools Holland OBE are among the previous recipients of the prize.
Annie is one of the UK's most successful solo artists, selling in excess of 80m records and winning eight Brit awards.
