The AIM Independent Music Awards have announced their first set of nominees for 2023.

This year's ceremony, which will 'celebrate the vibrant and innovative breadth of talent across the UK’s independent sector', will take place at the Roundhouse in London on 26 September.

RAYE and Shygirl are this year's front-runners, with both artists picking up three nominations each - including nods for Best Independent Track.  The likes of Ezra Collective, Obongjayar, Kelela and Jessica Winter all have two nominations each.

The AIM Awards' coveted Best Independent Album category, meanwhile, will see the likes of Little Simz, Nova Twins and Rina Sawayama vying for the accolade.

Music fans across the world are also being invited to have their say in the Best Live Performer category, which will be decided by a public vote which can be accessed here.

Speaking about this year's Awards, Silvia Montello, CEO at AIM, said: 'This year's AIM Independent Music Award nominees represent our diverse, dynamic and inclusive community, truly showcasing the incredible range of talent across all genres of the UK music scene.

'As the indie sector continues to grow, we look forward to celebrating the dedication of labels, artists, and their teams on 26 September.'
