Independent music body Aim and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) will focus on digital industries during this year’s US trade mission, and are inviting delegates to apply for funding to finance their visit.

The mission, which takes place on 20 June, seeks to promote lasting links between the UK and US music industries to ensure the prosperity of British music abroad.

This year the event will focus on digital opportunities, with masterclasses, case studies and panel sessions examining the implications of ‘the cloud’, social media and UK success across the pond.

There will be one-to-one speed meetings and a networking reception with US industry guests to help UK delegates establish new contacts.

The mission precedes the A2IM Indie Week on 21 – 23 June, organised by Aim's US equivalent trade body, the American Association of Independent Music.

Aim for America 2011 delegates will also be able to access A2IM’s programme, which will include sessions on publishing, licensing, legal and technical issues.

There is a mission registration fee of £125 (plus vat) per delegate but funding may be available from your regional UKTI international trade advisor.

Please contact Phil Patterson, UKTI music sector specialist, who will refer you to your local contact. His email address is phil.patterson@uktispecialist.com.

To apply, please click here and complete the online application form. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 27 April 2011.
