The Association of Independent Music (AIM) has called for more recognition of entrepreneurs in independent music.
Speaking at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the indie label trade body's recently appointed chair, Tim Dellow of Transgressive Records said: 'A big part of what we’ll be seeking to do with AIM in the future is to have this real entrepreneurship in the sector recognised both within the industry, and outside of it'.
He added that AIM hopes this will generate the same respect and opportunities for all entrepreneurs 'that the UK tech and film industries have.'
AIM represents over 800 independent music companies in the UK.
During the meeting, CEO Paul Pacifico also announced new collaborative partnerships with a number of organisations, demonstrating its commitment to innovation.
One of these new projects will explore how AIM and PRS for Music can work more closely together on licensing initiatives.
