The Association of Independent Music (AIM) has announced the return of its AIM Awards for 2016 this September.

Taking place at The Brewery in Clerkenwell on September 6, the event, now in its sixth year, will bring together the great and the good of the indie music sector to celebrate their achievements over the last year.

Last year’s winners included the likes of Wolf Alice, Young Fathers, Jungle, Swans, FKA Twigs and Enter Shikari.

The awards, which are are voted for by an expert panel of judges, will welcome BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s MistaJam to partner last year’s host John Kennedy of Radio X.

John Kennedy said: ‘I am delighted to be hosting the AIM Awards again this year. And honoured to be doing it alongside the amazing MistaJam.’

Lara Baker, AIM awards organiser, added: ‘As ever the independent sector has had a phenomenal year, with such a broad range of incredible music released. Whether it’s the international success of grime or the enduring popularity of metal, British indies continue to be an unrivaled hotbed of new talent and home to some of the world’s most popular artists. The AIM Awards is where you will see the true breadth and creativity of British music celebrated.’

Comprised of over 850 members, from small start-ups to some of the largest, most respected labels in the world, according to AIM, the 'community continues to define itself as the beating heart of the UK record industry'.

Tickets for the awards are now available from the AIM website.
