Scottish singer songwriter Aidan Moffat is to debut Where You’re Meant To Be, a documentary charting his attempts to rewrite some of his home country’s oldest folk songs.
The film, which will be unveiled at a screening in Glasgow on 19 February, will explore the project and Aidan’s relationship with folk singer Sheila Stewart, who did not agree with idea behind the project.
Commenting, Aidan, said: ‘Folk music has a pretty austere reputation, but I was struck by the humour in old Scots songs.’
‘So I started out rewriting some classics to adapt them to modern city life, which mostly meant more sex, booze, drugs and swearing. There are sad ones, too, of course - I can't help myself - and even a couple of political messages in true folk tradition.’
