Adele’s second record 21 is the biggest seller of the millennium, according to new Official Charts Company (OCC) data.

Adele’s second record 21 is the biggest seller of the millennium, according to new Official Charts Company (OCC) data.

New figures reveal that the album has sold 4,740,000 copies during the 2000s with Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black shifting 3,560,000 units.

James Blunt’s Back to Bedlam racked up 3,310,000 in third place. The rest of the top five was made up with Leona Lewis’s Spirit and Dido’s No Angel.

Adele’s accolades have yet to stop coming with her releases breaking chart records on both sides of the Atlantic.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran’s X has joined a select band of albums to hit the 2m sales mark since its release in June 2014.
