Adele number one in young musician rich list

Adele has come top of a new list of the richest young musicians in the UK compiled by The Sunday Times.

According to the rich list of entertainers under 30 put together by the newspaper, the singer songwriter is worth a total of £30m. The amount has risen from the £20m her fortune was valued at back in 2012.

Adele enjoyed a hugely successful last year with numerous awards bestowed on her for latest record 21 and her James Bond theme tune Skyfall.


Elsewhere there were a number of other new entries in the list including all five members of boy band One Direction. The group are now officially the richest boy band in Britain with a combined fortune of £25m.

The four members of JLS are narrowly behind with a combined worth of £24m.

Other new entries to the list include Emeli Sande and Ed Sheeran who both have fortunes valuing a total of £5m each.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sir Paul McCartney is the richest performer in the UK with a fortune of £680m which he shares with his latest wife Nancy Shevell.

He has been the wealthiest performer in the country since The Sunday Times Rich List began in 1989.

Llord Lloyd-Webber is second in the list with £620m while U2 and Sir Elton John are third and fourth with £520m and £240m respectively.

The 2013 Sunday Times Rich List is now in its 25th year.
