Adele has been named as the wealthiest musician under 30 by the Sunday Times Rich List.
The ubiquitous 27-year old singer songwriter’s fortune is now valued at £85m by the publication’s annual report.
This is an increase of £35m compared to last year and follows the release of her record breaking album, 25. Her success has put her at the top of the Young Music Rich List for the fifth consecutive year.
Enya is the only female artist with a bigger fortune. The artist is valued at £91m.
Adele is now ranked at number 30 in the overall UK and Ireland music millionaires list, above Sir Cliff Richard, Gary Barlow and Kylie Minogue, and up from 43rd last year.
Commenting on the findings, Gennaro Castaldo from the BPI said: ‘We all want to see much stronger female representation in such lists to reflect the major contribution they make, but with Adele one of the world's most successful artists and the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Grimes and Paloma Faith also hugely influential in inspiring not just fans, but a whole new generation of female performers and songwriters, I'm optimistic that a shift is gradually taking place and that we'll start to see things change in future.’
The top 10 music millionaires are below:
Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell £760m
Lord Lloyd-Webber £715m
U2 £500m
Sir Elton John £280m
Sir Mick Jagger £235m
