Ralph Wyld (pictured) and Chris McMurran have been announced as winners of the 2015 Dankworth Prizes for Jazz Composition.

The pair received their awards during a concert at the Royal College of Music’s Britten Theatre on Wednesday 11 February.

Jazz pianist Chris regularly performs in Cambridge and London, solo or with his own trio. He received the big band prize for his piece Continuum.

Young composer Ralph, who has previously had works performed at the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican, received the small ensemble prize for Subterrranea.

Alec and Emily Dankworth, who represented the entire Dankworth family’s association with the prize, presented the pair with their awards.

The prize was set up by Art Mead and is supported by the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Wavendon Foundation.
