The BRITs 2012 shortlist was unveiled at a ceremony in London last night, with newcomer Ed Sheeran nominated in four categories.
The 20-year old is up for Best Male, Best Breakthrough, Best Single for The A Team, and Best Album for his debut record, entitled +.
Sheeran told the BBC he was 'ecstatic, really happy and pleased' at the launch party at the Savoy Hotel on The Strand. He added: 'I think any artist would really want to win the Best Album Award - but to be honest I think Adele will win that one.'
Meanwhile Jessie J has been nominated in three categories; Best Female, Best Breakthrough and Best Single for Price Tag.
Boybands One Direction, JLS and The Wanted will go head-to-head for the Best Single gong for What Makes You Beautiful, She Makes Me Wanna and Glad You Came respectively.
Meanwhile, Professor Green received his first BRIT nomination in the Best Male category, along with James Blake, James Morrison and Noel Gallagher.
Last year's BRITs star Adele is up for Best British Female, Best Single for Someone Like You and Best Album for 21. Florence & The Machine, Kate Bush and Laura Marling also feature in the Best British Female nominations.
Scottish singer Emeli Sande has already been awarded the Critics' Choice Award.
