The Gramophone Awards took place at London's Dorchester Hotel on Thursday 6 October.

The winners included the Hallé Orchestra who won in the choral category for their recording of Elgar's The Kingdom and took the contemporary prize for Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s Night's Black Bird, becoming double winners two years in a row.
