Slaves, Marika Hackman, Dream Wife (above) and Avelino are among the latest wave of artists slated for The Great Escape in May.

Slaves are set to return to the Brighton knees-up for a Pier Party takeover, which will see the raucous duo take over the Palace Pier and fairground. The ticketed event will grant gig goers access to the fair plus ride tokens.

Other acts added to the line-up today include singer-songwriter Marika Hackman, Tottenham lyricist Avelino and fast-rising indie-rock trio Dream Wife.

Reading soloist The Japanese House, rapper Stefflon Don, electro-funk act Native Dancer and Belfast newbies Picture This also join the roll call.

Kevin Moore, The Great Escape event manager, said: ‘It’s brilliant to be able to get out of the traps in January announcing 100 of the best new bands around joining the line-up for TGE 2017.

‘And we cannot wait for Slaves to perform at the end of Brighton Palace Pier for what is going to be one of the biggest shows we have ever produced at the festival – it’s going to be one of those legendary “were you there” moments, no doubt about that. Roll on May!’

The Great Escape, which is sponsored by PRS for Music, PPL, Help Musicians UK and more, takes place from 18 to 20 May at various venues around Brighton.
