Ahead of this evening's 2011 MOBO Awards ceremony, we look at the career of three-times MOBO winner Beverley Knight.
The British soul sensation has sold over a million albums, has been nominated for the Mercury Music Award twice and Best Female at the BRITs three times.
She has had four gold-selling albums and one platinum album so far, and has collaborated with some of the world’s top musical talent, including Prince, Santana, Take That, Chris Martin, Jamiroquai, Bryan Adams, Chaka Khan, Courtney Pine, Roni Size, Jools Holland, Wyclef Jean, Lionel Richie and Ronnie Wood.
Beverley has undertaken sell out UK tours in 2006, 2007 and 2009 including two sell out shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall. She was awarded an MBE by the Queen for services to music and charity in 2007.
M was lucky enough to ask Beverley about her musical inspirations, dream collaborators and most memorable gigs – and they’re pretty memorable. In this not-to-be missed video, she provides some brilliant tips for songwriters and gives us the inside story of the song she’s most proud of. She also names her favourite British songsmith.
